Elm Grove Real Estate

Elm Grove is an exclusive community between Brookfield and Milwaukee. Affluent Milwaukeeans prefer to own houses here – it’s peaceful and more spacious – while retaining easy access to the city. Downtown is only a 15-minute drive, or you can head west to Lake Country, where many residents own their summer homes. There’s a collection of inland lakes perfect for sunbathing, boating, and other water activities.

In the Indian Hills, Mission Hills, and Brinsmere Manor neighborhoods, there’s a mix of large Tudor-style homes dating back to the 1920s, 1960 ranch-style houses, and modern luxury mansions. You’ll find spacious penthouse-style condos in Squires Grove, Emerald Woods, and Bluemound Rd. Tree-lined streets and narrow roads through the woods can make you forget you’re living close to a metropolitan city. Brookfield earned the state title of “Bird City” because the mature trees and well-maintained gardens have become a sanctuary for birds and other wildlife.

What to Love

  • Quick commute to downtown
  • Classic Tudor-style homes
  • Bird sanctuaries and other protected wildlife
  • Plenty of locally-owned small businesses

Local Lifestyle

There’s a strong sense of community here. Residents volunteer to serve on government committees and organize public events to bring everyone together. There are no mega-chain stores in Elm Grove. Small, locally-owned businesses treat their customers like family and vice versa. Neighbors take time to get to know each other and throw block parties regularly, so it feels like a very close-knit Midwestern town.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Residents love to support their favorite mom-and-pop shops and eateries. Some shops even attract out-of-towners to their unique offerings. Great Harvest Bread Co. is famous for its fresh-baked whole-grain wheat bread and muffins. Zisters is a casual restaurant that’s the town go-to for catering, private parties, and bottomless brunches on weekends. It also hosts a popular live music series in the summer. Yamato Sushi Restaurant specializes in sushi, steak, and noodle dishes.

Silver Spur Texas Smokehouse Bbq serves Texas-style smoked meats, southern side dishes, and Tex-Mex fare. Yemas Family Restaurant has all your American favorites, including pancakes, burgers, and grilled cheese. O’Donoghue’s Irish Pub is set in an old-style stone building open late for pub grub and draft beers. In nearby Brookfield is Glass Nickel Pizza Co. which has a professional catering and delivery service for pizza, pasta, and wings. If you have a sweet tooth, check out Fazio’s Chocolate, The Chocolate Factory, or RJ’s Ice Cream. There’s also a Starbucks close by, and Fresh Baked Café boasts the best croissants in town.

You’ll find many shops and businesses at the Village Court, including florists, salons and spas, and home furnishings. Sendik’s Food Market is a grocery store with a bakery, deli, and takeaway food. Kettle Range Meat Co. is a specialty butcher shop offering grass-fed beef and free-range chicken. Nearby, the Brookfield Farmers Market sells produce and specialty foods on Saturdays.
