Welcome to Lake Country
Lake Country is part of Waukesha County, boasting over 140 lakes. Wealthy visitors have been coming to the area since the Milwaukee and Watertown Railroad Company brought service through the county in 1855. Hotel resorts soon popped up, and Lake Country rivaled Lake Geneva as a summer destination. By the turn of the century, private homes were being built along the waterfront to house Wisconsin’s elite. The resorts hosted exclusive formal parties to cater to them, and private yacht clubs were established.
Although the original hotels have closed and some of the large opulent estates have been subdivided, Lake Country still offers luxurious prime waterfront property on spacious lots with multi-car garages, walk-in closets, and custom-built sundecks. Here you are, just steps away from the beach. Many residents of Lac La Belle, Oconomowoc Lake, and Pewaukee Lake even have their private boat docks. Find a lake near you!
